The Aptitude Certificate for Managing Social Work Units is listed in the National Registry of Professional Qualifications as a Level II degree. It is delivered by the French Ministry of Social Affairs and Health (June 8, 2004 Order, Decree n° 2004-289 of March 25, 2004).
The 18-month training program consists of:
- 400 hours of theoretical work structured in 4 training units (lightened coursework possible):
Alternatively, professionals already practicing in the social or socio-medical services sector or holding a diploma in the area of social work can apply for the Fast Track. This program would include:
330 hours of theoretical lectures
210 hours of field internship
Admission requirements: Candidates must fulfill one of the conditions below, as defined by Article 2 of the June 8, 2004 Order.
- Hold a minimum Level III diploma (delivered by the State and in conformity with Article L. 451-1 of the Code of Social and Family Affairs),
- Hold a minimum Level II equivalent diploma or a Level II degree listed in the National Registry of Professional Qualifications,
- Hold one of the medical auxiliary Level III diplomas and justify two years of professional experience, regardless the activity sector,
- Hold a State or national diploma, or a diploma approved by the Higher Education Ministry, attesting to at least 2 years of higher education,
- Hold a Level III diploma recognized by the National Registry of Professional Qualifications and justify at least three years of professional experience in a management position, regardless the activity sector. There is no minimum professional experience required for managers working in a social or socio-medical organization,
- Hold a Level IV State diploma and justify four years of professional experience in a social or socio-medical organization, as defined by Article L.312-1 of the Code of Social and Family Affairs. There is no minimum professional experience required for managers already working in a social or socio-medical organization.
Admission procedure:
- The application form can be obtained year-round from ARAFDES or downloaded from this website. There is an administrative fee of 200 €, of which 130 €will be reimbursed should the candidate decide to retract his application prior to the interview.
- Review of the application by a jury, which will thereafter propose interviews to candidates who fulfill the eligibility conditions as defined by the June 8, 2004 Order.
- The 30-minute interview will be conducted by a jury consisting of representatives from professional training centers, professional management sectors and/or from management teams of social or socio-medical organizations. The interview is an opportunity for the candidate to express his motivations and elaborate on his professional projects.
Admission can be deferred up to 5 years.
Admission deadline: Applications are no longer accepted one month prior to the beginning of the program. For 2009, the application deadline is fixed for December 1, 2008.
Tuition : 7 500 € for Fast Track, 8 300 € for classic program.
